| Opinions About the War | ||||||||||||||||||
| This section of my website is dedicated to my belief that, given all of the rhetoric that swirls around our ears about the war, we rarely get an opportunity to actually hear what is being said. The people on television, from street protesters, to your local newcaster, to Dan Rather, to the President understand this, and thus are compelled to contract their ideas into statements that can be easily repeated and automatically remembered. We are left to form our own opinions with what scraps we can find on the internet and in newpapers. It's like trying to build a Cistine chappel with Lincoln Logs. Very few books have been written hence far about the war with Iraq and it's consequences, because of course, history hasn't yet played her hand. And while I'm interested in hearing what the great minds of our nation, as well as other nations, will say when the dust settles, I think what I'm hearing from everyday people will prove to be equally profound - if the chance for expression is given. Herein lies my purpose. Every submission will be as it is presented to me, unless the spelling is so atrocious as to warrent a spell check. I won't be adding colors, pictures or graphics, in an attempt to let these missives stand on their own merit. I will not be entertaining any kind of debate on the website, although you are free to ask questions of the author on the message board, and they are free to choose to respond, or not. I hope you enjoy this. I think it will make for an interesting and thought provoking read. Ms. X |
